Finding Peace

Peace is an illusive concept, from a world perspective clear down to a personal level. Multitudes have prayed for it. Multitudes have “fought” for it. What does it take to find peace?

The 14th Dalai Lama said “World peace begins with inner peace….If we ourselves remain angry and then sing world peace, it has little meaning. First, our individual self must learn peace. This we can practice.”

Buddha stated “Resolutely train yourself to attain peace.”

So how do we in our human form, find peace?

I read a quote recently that I really liked but have not been able to find again. It went something like this. “Inner peace must be found while living the challenges of life.” We can often feel peace when life circumstances are going well for us. What many humans have given thought to is how do we find a state of peace when this is not the case?

I am working on this. I know for me personally, this feeling is not permanent. I would almost describe it as an emotional state of mind, body, and spirit. It is a feeling I have that involves my sacral, solar plexus, and heart chakras.

I was already a proponent of seeking emotional balance to the positive. As a medium, I’ve discovered that it is a key to being at a high enough frequency to provide this service as one example. It’s also a kindness we can give to others around us. It is absolutely a kindness we can give ourselves. However, it is also a state of being that I have to remind myself to find.

Personally, it is essential for me to notice when my thoughts are spinning in negative ways. Maybe I’m worrying about something. Noticing gives me the opportunity to improve my thoughts. Every time I improve my thoughts, I feel relief. This is true for everyone. When you feel relief, you have found a higher frequency thought. Maybe though, the thought is still negative. An example of that is when one feels relief from depression by getting angry. Anger is actually a higher frequency than depression. However, anger has it’s own set of consequences that usually don’t feel good. To get out of the negative or downright difficult emotions, continue to find new thoughts that bring relief until one’s corresponding emotions are in a positive range.

Here are other ideas that help bring one into a state of peace.

Mother Teresa shared “Peace begins with a smile.” This is so true. Try it when you are feeling fear or depression as an example. Literally put a smile on your face. Particularly try in when you are alone and quiet. Do you feel relief? A monk in the book “Eat, Pray, Love” recommended a meditation where you sit and smile from the gut up. Feel the energy of a smile coming from your gut up to your face. Feel the emotion of happiness.. It helps as you try this to simply add the thought, “I am so grateful”. This is just one form of over 400 types of meditation. Any meditation practice will encourage inner peace.

Another practice I enjoy is to bless each of my chakra centers. Chakras are energy centers in your body that affect your health and well being. You can say a prayer for this or an intention. Dr. Joe Dispenza has used highly sensitive equipment to measure where his students in his advanced workshops have their energy centers before the 1st day of workshops. Surprisingly, it turns out that their (and our) chakras are typically scattered all over the place from the stresses of life. Once the participants are led in blessing each of their centers starting with the root chakra, this same equipment measures them aligned in the center of our body as is typically pictured. Our bodies work most effectively when they are centered and flowing. The most well known chakras to ask blessings for include the root, sacral, solar plexus, heart, throat, third eye, and crown. One of the lessons he teaches is that where we put our attention, is where we affect change. See if you can feel a tingling in each center as you ask for them to be blessed. When I do this practice, I relax and feel calm. It is the state I seek.

A third approach is to use a simple mantra to bring inner peace. “I am centered. I am balanced. I am at peace” is a quote by an anonymous person on the internet. It’s a great example of a mantra to help bring one into this place of being.

Remember too breathing deeply and intending the release of stress is a wonderful practice throughout the day. It is a basic habit recommended by many masters. It goes well when combined with a mantra.

Please share additional ideas below that help you find inner peace. I am grateful for each person who chooses to work on this positive balance. It is a gift to be around you.

Love and light,

Linda
